Interesting story gread reading

Interesting to hear the start of the Dr. Watson Sherlock Holmes relationship with BJ's wonderful reading style

The first time I personally read this story I was shocked at what was being said. This tale being the reason there will NEVER be a Gasfitters Ball or Sherlock Holmes Society here in Utah, this excellent story is, I'm sure, insulting to some of the Mormon tradition.
As usual, BJ read this tale excellently, his spread of voices is amazing! I found BJs Mormon style commentary at the end quite enlightening and entertaining (it will no longer be included in the downloads). I have since concluded that I'd rather hear the tale than read it.
My husband and I frequently attended Gasfitters Balls and Sherlock Holmes Society events in CA, until fairly recently. There are none to be had in Utah, due to this story.
An excellent story of how Sherlock begins!

I have seen most of the Sherlock movies and TV productions and read a few episodes (The Second Stain being my favorite.) This was my first audio book experience with Sherlock, and it was a great one. It is a fascinating story of how Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson began their famous partnership, and B.J. Harrison is at his best with multiple voices that draw you into the story. A Study is Scarlet has an interested beginning to its Part 2. You are transported from London to the American West to a back story that gives the London mystery depth and meaning. At first I wondered it I had somehow gotten a Louis L'Amour story mixed in to my Sherlock Holmes, but soon it because clear why the story across the ocean was an internal part of the London mystery. In the end it all comes together, and once again, as Sherlock explains how he deduced his conclusions you say, "why didn't I see that." The reason? You're not Sherlock Holmes!And neither am I! This audio book will be enjoyed by both seasoned Sherlock Holmes fans and newbies. And you won't find it better done than on The Best Audio Books! One final bit - I am glad I got the download before B.J. eliminated his comments on Mormonism. I found them illuminating, historically accurate, and not at all prejudicial. Although Mormonism plays a major role in the American scenes of this book, this background is not necessary to fully enjoy the story. Well done, BJ, and thank you.
