A young woman comes of age in 1907 - inspiring!in
From Liz Shaw of Gilbert, Arizona on .
A lovely story. I saw the movie when it came out in 1986, and I would love to see it again now that I've listened to this audiobook. The narrator brings out the depth in some of the critical scenes in the book in a way that I didn't feel in the movie. I enjoyed this immensely.
Fantastically performed; lovely book.

I remember loving this movie when it came out in 85. I really loved listening to it, remembering all the scenes.
I was startled how much the movie kept faithfully to the book. The book is, of course, better! And, so much more so with the fantastic performance of B.J. Harrison. His voices, his inflections -- even his pauses. He's got it all down, and makes it come to life. Highly recommend.

Always a great pleasure to listen to classic tales while I work that I would not otherwise have time to read.
Great story and awesome narration

I love when B.J. does lady voices...and this one is chock-full! Definitely worth a listen. Thanks, Classic Tales, for keeping these audiobooks so affordable. I'm mowing through them!
Love the different voices!

Characters come to life.
From Bonnie Discuillo of Dexter, Michigan on .
As always, BJ's reading gives each character their own personality. Lucy is torn between choosing a safe marriage to Cecil, staying single and having a career or perhaps marrying Emerson. A great joy to read. I always wish there was a sequel to this book.
