"Hooked"
From Nigel Carr of Carlisle on .
I greatly enjoy BJ's stories. This is my first novel purchase and it is a brilliant tale, beautifully narrated. Ivanhoe will be next. I stumbled across Classic Tales and am so, so glad to have the company of BJ when I am working on my project Toyota. There will likely be equal narrators out there but, surely, there are none better.
Ripping Yarn
From Gregory Savage of Dongguan, China on .
An adventure on the high seas of the Caribbean is the backdrop for a pirate, almost superhero. BJ's narration brings all the characters to life and upon conclusion, it is with regret that I part with what feels like an old friend.
Simply The Best

As always, B.J. does a superb job of narrating a classic. Thank you!
Excellent
From George Coutts of Locust Grove, Virginia on .
I learned a long time ago that old movies like Captain Blood (1924, 1935, 1952, 1960) are almost always based on a well written and exciting original work. Such is the case with Raphael Sabatini’s classic work. It starts out slowly enough with an anti-Jacobite i.e. anti-Outlander pro William of Orange perspective which to me hundreds of years later is neither here nor there but different. Thankfully, there’s only enough politics to fill a thimble and the story is pure action and adventure well told and equally well narrated. It’s been a fun week commuting with Peter Blood and the crew of the Arabella. I hope BJ picks more works by Sabatini in the future.
seriously swashbuckling
From Diana Dowsley of Vancouver, British Columbia on .
I've known Captain Blood in the unbearably cute Errol Flynn version for years, but this audiobook is the version for grown-ups. Great, well-rounded characters, just enough historical content, and a satisfyingly complicated plot, all brought gracefully to life by a spirited narration. I've listened twice so far, and I'm not done yet.
Great adventure story

Loved the narration, story, and characterization. I'm sure I'll be listening to this again soon.
Worth the price!

wonderful narration + pirates - scurvy + forlorn love + heroism + vengeance + corruption + war + gold = listen to several times
FANTASTIC LISTEN TO IT OVER AND OVER
From FRANK ROGERS of Laredo, Texas on .
B.J. YOU ARE THE BEST, IN YOUR NARRATIONS AND ALSO FOR THE CUSTOMER SERVICE YOU PROVIDE. NO ONE CAN COMPARE, YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE THAT KNOWS HOW TO DO IT.
MANY, MANY THANKS,
FRANK ROGERS
Captain Blood
From Maxwell of Boston, Massachusetts on .
As I enjoy almost every Classic Tales reading, this is not a review of the audio production, although the text is a perfect venue for Mr. Harrison's voice and dramatic skills.
I suspect many listeners will know this story from the 1935 Errol Flynn movie (itself a classic), but only a gloss upon the much more textured and detailed tale that unfolds in the historical novel.
Bravo!
an exciting adventure!
From Anonymous of San Diego, California on .
What a great and exciting pirate adventure! I was spellbound from the beginning... And B.J. Harrison's narration is exceptional.
This is probably the best story I have every heard.
Captain Blood
From Dennis Gigoux of Waxhaw, North Carolina on .
Great....BJ needs to address the sequels to Captain Bllod as well.
Since I am from New Orleans and there are those little flat bottom boats, I wonder abouyt the Pronunciation of pirogues. In New Orleans it is pronounced Pee-ro(g-sometimes)
Best Adventure Tale of All Time
From D Koon of Windermere, Florida on .
I had of course heard of this story, but had never read the book or seen the 1935 movie. After listening to a couple of episodes I was totally hooked and couldn't wait for the next installment. I cannot believe that with all of the junk that comes out of Hollywood nobody has remade this novel into a modern film. It doesn't matter though. No movie is going to do the book justice. This one is really a must have. If you like tales of adventure on the high seas, you will love this book. And if you have ever cruised the Virgin Islands, you have no doubt visited some of the very places where the story takes place. The price of this book is a pitiful sum for hours of great entertainment.
